London - A man who has pursued a remarkable academic career despite suffering serious brain damage at birth has been awarded £2.325 million agreed damages. Mr Peter Pearse (27) was left grossly disabled, with cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs and his speech, after the use of forceps at his birth at the Barnet Victoria Maternity Hospital in December 1970.
But he has used his IQ of 130 to acquire a degree in psychology from Nottingham University and is currently working for a PhD from Leeds.
