A 23-year old man was refused bail after being charged with raping a British tourist in Galway. The man, who has a Galway address, was arrested on Tuesday in Killarney.
He appeared before Spiddal District Court in Co Galway yesterday, charged with raping the woman at a house in Galway city last Sunday, June 5th.
Garda Pádraig Healy told Judge Mary Fahy the accused had made no reply when the charge was put to him.
The man was also charged with the common assault of a man in Galway last year.

The judge remanded the accused in custody to appear before Galway District Court next week.
