Man charged with Antrim death

A man has been charged with the murder of Geoff Kerr in Co Antrim earlier this week.

A man has been charged with the murder of Geoff Kerr in Co Antrim earlier this week.

Mr Kerr (60) was shot dead at his home in Templepatrick after two bogus Chinese takeaway delivery men forced their way in. He was wounded in the chest and was killed instantly.

His wife and one of their four sons were in the house when he was killed in what police believe was a botched robbery.

The man will appear before Ballymena Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

Police last night arrested a woman aged in her early 50s in the Newtownabbey area. She is being held at Antrim Serious Crime suite.

This brings to four the number of people still being questioned in relation to the shooting.

Two men were being quizzed at Antrim Serious Crime suite, while a woman was also being held on suspicion of aiding and abetting.

Mr Kerr was laid to rest yesterday, with mourners at a packed Templepatrick Presbyterian Church remembering him as a loving family man who was devoted to his wife and sons.
