A man held in connection with the investigation into the death of a woman in Roscommon appeared before a special sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon District Court last night.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested following the discovery of the body of Kezia Gomaz Rosa on Tuesday evening in a house on Lanesboro Street, Roscommon. The Brazilian woman, who was in her early 20s, had received a number of stab wounds in the attack.

The man was detained at Roscommon Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, before appearing before the court at 11pm last night.
