Gardaí in Dublin's north inner city are investigating a fatal assault on a man in his thirties last night.
The victim (38) was attacked on the Ballybough Road, Fairview, at around 11.30 p.m. He was brought to the Mater hospital, where he died a short time later.
Gardaí said it is believed he had been severely beaten and stabbed by a single attacker. It is understood a knife was found.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination. There were no arrests and a motive for the attack has not been established.
