A man has been arrested by gardaí following the discovery of a body at a house in Wexford town.

A man has been arrested by gardaí following the discovery of a body at a house in Wexford town.

The body of the man, who was in his 40s, was found at around 1am at a house on Selskar Street.

The scene has been sealed off, and the State pathologist has been notified.

"A 27-year-old man was arrested earlier this morning in relation to this investigation. He is currently detained at Wexford Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act," a Garda statement said.

A postmortem is to be carried out later today.
