. Increases in pay ranging from 3.4 per cent to 24 per cent over three years, depending on the grade and length of service. All members will join a new "assimilated" scale for clerical officers (COs) that replaces the existing scales for COs, clerical assistants (CAs) and paper keepers. A third of CPSU members will also be promoted.
. A third of the 5,000 CAs will receive an increase of 22 per cent, worth £50 a week, over three to four years. The other two thirds will receive increases of around 3.4 per cent. However, all CAs will be placed on a new "assimilated" scale that rises from £164 to £300 a week over 15 years. The Department of Finance had originally wanted a 21 year scale.
. The present CA scale runs from £155 to £230 and the CO scale from £156 to £280 a week.
. Two thirds of COs will receive an increase of 6.8 per cent over the next three to four years. A quarter will be placed on a new higher CO scale that rises to £308 a week and will receive increases of 11 per cent over three to four years.
. Around 250 of the 4,500 COs will be promoted to the Staff Officer scale which means an increase of 24 per cent, bringing their pay to £350 a week.
. Of the 1,000 staff officers about 300 will be promoted to executive officer grade. The promotion is only worth about 4 per cent but they will have enhanced career opportunities.
. In return for the increases the CPSU has agreed to the elimination of 150 posts in the civil service and a 4 per cent reduction in the lowest entry point for new recruits at CO level.
. A further reduction of 22 per cent has been accepted for new entrants at Staff Officer level.
. They have also agreed to the employment of temporary part time staff to an agreed minimum of 15 hours a week and discussions on new work practices.
