Loyalists have pledged to march through a Co Antrim village this weekend despite the Parades Commission's decision to ban the march, writes Suzanne Breen.

The commission said a band contest in Crumlin could seriously damage local community relations.

However, the parade organisers have rejected this suggestion and said they will go ahead with the march.

A spokesman, Mr Mark Harbinson, said they had "walked this route for the past 18 years and will do so again this Saturday". It was time, he said, for Protestants to demand parity of esteem.
