A gang of more than 30 loyalist youths have been blamed for disturbances in north Belfast in which a number of houses were attacked last night.

Homes in the Oldpark Deerpark Road areas were attacked with windows being smashed and graffiti being sprayed on the wall of one house.

Mr Gerry Kelly, the former Sinn Fein Assembly member for north Belfast, blamed the attack on loyalists.

"We know it is loyalists, and that is worrying because this is an area over the last 30 years that did not really feature in terms of the type of sectarian attacks that are now happening," he said.
