The body of Irish emigrant, Mr Brendan Ward, was flown home late last night from the US to his native Limerick for burial. Mr Ward 's body was accompanied by his sister and brother.

The Limerick man, who was in his early 40s, was fatally injured when a blaze destroyed a house in Everett, a Boston suburb, on Monday night.

Mr Ward died on Tuesday morning while in intensive care in the Massachusetts General Hospital.

He had been in Boston for six years and worked as a painter.
