The owner of the Limerick nightclub where a young mother was shot dead last weekend has voluntarily surrendered her dance licence to Limerick City Court.

Mr Aeneas McCarthy, solicitor for Ms Elizabeth Ryan, owner of the Henry Cecil, where the killing occurred, withdrew an application made some months ago for a late night drinks licence for the nightclub. The licence was not due for renewal or review, but had been before the courts on a number of occasions in recent months. The ordinary bar licence is still in operation in the downstairs part of the premises, but the club has been closed since the fatal shooting of Ms Georgina O'Donnell (20), whose family live at Richmond Park, Corbally.

Gardai are still seeking "one of the most violent people in the city", who they say should not be approached, as a chief suspect in the shooting. They believe it was his intention to injure his partner, who is now under Garda protection.

The 29-year-old suspect is described as 5ft 11in, of strong build, with sandy hair and a moustache. He is believed to be armed.
