The £143 million fraud trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has continued on the 10th day with legal argument in the absence of jury.

The accused are: Mr Christian Obumneme, Mr Achike Okigbo and Mr Obiora Uzodike, who have addresses in Dublin; and Mr Thomas Anthony O'Brien and Mr Raymond Folkes, with addresses in London.

They have pleaded not guilty to trying to defraud Heinz Althoff by forming a fraudulent company and to forging or counterfeiting US dollar drafts in large amounts in 1999. The five are also charged with claiming they had bank drafts worth £32 million and seeking £2 million from Mr Terry Smith in exchange for them.
