Three Northern Irish League soccer clubs, Newry Town, Portadown and Ards, face High Court proceedings in Belfast over alleged non-payment of tax. The Inland Revenue has lodged winding-up petitions against the clubs but it is unlikely they will go to the wall.

The three cases are due to come before the court's Bankruptcy Division on October 21st when it is expected that whatever financial problems there are will be resolved.
