Leeds striker Alan Smith was today arrested over allegations that he kicked abottle into a crowd at a game against Manchester United last month, policesaid.
It has emerged that the 23-year-old, who was today picked for the England squad, was questioned and later released on bail.
A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said he would have to return to apolice station at a later date and a file would be passed to the CrownProsecution Service.
