Diyarbakir - A former Kurdish rebel field commander, Semdin Sakik, appealed to a Turkish court yesterday to lift his death sentence and let him benefit from a repentance law.
Sakik was for years the No 2 in the Kurdistan Workers' Party guerrilla movement. He was sentenced to death for the killing of 125 members of the security forces and 123 civilians in 191 rebel attacks.
