Mr Des Hanafin was presented with the Michael Bell Memorial Award by the Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Desmond Connell, at the headquarters of the Knights of St Columbanus last night. The award is presented by the International Alliance of Catholic Knights to individuals for their initiatives in defence of the right to life.
Mr Eamonn Fleming, the Supreme Knight of the Knights of St Columbanus, congratulated Mr Hanafin.
"It is indeed gratifying to honour a man of such immense talent and ability who devotes his energies towards the promotion of true Christian ideals in an increasingly cynical world."
