Knife victim `not Irish', say police

POLICE in Adelaide are now satisfied that the woman found murdered in a city park at the weekend was not an Irish tourist, writes Brian Donaghy in Adelaide.

Newspaper reports yesterday said she was believed to be an 18-year-old Adelaide woman.

A police spokesman yesterday told The Irish Times that that was "not too far off the mark".

There had been speculation that the young woman might have been Irish because she was allegedly wearing leggings with a Dunnes Stores label.

He could not say whether she was a recent migrant or someone with Irish connections, but said detectives "are quite satisfied that she was not an Irish girl or a visitor from overseas."
