Workers at Kilsaran Concrete have agreed to call off a strike due to begin tomorrow pending a Labour Court hearing on Friday afternoon.
The strike is over parity of pay and benefits between workers in Kilsaran Concrete Ltd, and other workers in the sector.
According to John Kane, SIPTU’s National Industrial Secretary, agreement has been reached with management over basic rates of pay, but the issues of bonuses and pensions are still outstanding.
The Labour Court has already stated that differences in pay and conditions were too wide between workers in the Kilsaran, and Roadstone and Readymix companies and that pensions and sick pay provisions were substantially out of line with appropriate standards in comparable employments.
The Labour Court is due to sit to consider the dispute at 2.30 pm on Friday.
