A jury has been sworn in at the Central Criminal Court for the trial of a Kerry man charged with raping a teenage girl two years ago.

The 24-year-old denies three charges of rape, oral rape and unlawful carnal knowledge of the same female, who was aged over 15 and under 17 at the time of the alleged offences, October 28th. 1997.

Mr Justice Carney told the jury the trial could not proceed immediately due to the unavailability of a court and judge. He said he was engaged with one trial and two other High Court judges were also presiding over Central Criminal Court trials.

He directed the jury to return to the court tomorrow unless otherwise informed.
