The jury in the trial of six people charged in connection with a fracas in New Ross preceding the death of Swedish street trader Lars Forsmark will continue its deliberations today.
Judge Patrick McCartan, addressing the jury at Wexford Circuit Criminal Court yesterday before it retired to consider its verdict, said the number of strangers involved in the fracas was a factor needing careful consideration.
However, he said there was little evidence to suggest Mr Forsmark had played any role in the row, which effectively meant the number of strangers involved in the fracas was reduced.
The judge finished his address to the jury at 3.35pm.
The six accused, all from New Ross, are Raymond Kelly, Brandon Park; Owen Lennon, Barrack Lane; Sinead Kane, Bosheen; Anthony O'Leary, Bosheen Estate; and brothers, Ian and Stephen Bolger, Nunnery Lane. All six have pleaded not guilty.
