With the sudden arrival of fine weather, the organisers of the 2012 An Post Cycle Series have taken the opportunity to draw attention to their plans for the months ahead.

The five-event series takes place across the country between May and September and is a joint initiative between An Post and the Irish Sports Council, encouraging people to get on their bikes and out into their communities.

More than 13,500 people took part in last year’s series, which provided a variety of trips – from a family 10km spin, to the more challenging 50km, 60km, 100km and 160km distances.

The variety ensured that the events catered for every type of cyclist, from children to serious amateurs.
