Country music legend Johnny Cash has been released from hospital in Nashville where he was treated for an unspecified stomach ailment for almost three weeks.

Cash, 71, was admitted to the hospital on August 25th and was forced to miss the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City, where his video, Hurt, a song about drug addiction written by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, won for best cinematography.

Cash returned to his home in Hendersonville in Tennessee after being released from hospital.

He plans on traveling to California next week where he will continue recording songs for his upcoming American Recordings album.
