An award winning Irish animation company has lined up a jobs boost after securing a contract to make a new Disney comedy cartoon.

Boulder Media, based in Dublin, will take on 50 staff to design and animate Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja right through to post-production.

Producer Anne Tweedy said the majority of the crew is Irish but other experts from Finland, Italy, Poland, Denmark, England, Scotland, Spain and Portugal have been hired.

"We are fortunate to have a highly skilled core crew and we have found the additional crew is adding to our company's strength in creativity and production," she said.

More than 50 artists and animators at Boulder will work on the project over the next two years.

The cartoon is expected to premiere on Disney XD from the autumn and will air in more than 129 countries worldwide.

The series follows the fast-paced adventures of unlikely hero Randy Cunningham who, armed with his magic demon fibre suit, the teachings of the "Ninja-ing", an 800-year-old Ninja guide for dummies, is the only person to protect his
school and the world from certain destruction.
