Jewellery worth £20,000 stolen in Derry

Police in Co Derry are investigating a robbery at a jewellery shop today, in which rings worth £20,000 were stolen.

Police in Co Derry are investigating a robbery at a jewellery shop today, in which rings worth £20,000 were stolen.

The PSNI said a man armed with a hammer entered the shop at Kingsgate Street in Coleraine shortly before 5pm.

He took 30 gold rings worth £20,000 from a window display.

The man is described as aged in his early 20s and 5' 10'' in height.  He was wearing a green jumper and a dark motorcycle helmet with a balaclava underneath.

Detectives believe a yellow and black scooter may have been used in the robbery and that it may afterwards have been driven towards the Long Commons area.
