A 52-year-old man who sexually abused his sisters- in-law when they were children in the early 1970s has been jailed for three years by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The man, who pleaded guilty to 13 counts of sexual abuse and indecent assault between 1971 and 1975, is serving a five-year sentence for raping his partner's daughter.

At the request of the victims, the man is now enrolled in the sex offenders' rehabilitation course in Arbour Hill prison.

Det Garda Eddie McBride said the incidents took place when the young girls baby-sat at his house in Ballymun where he lived with their sister. The incidents came to light during a Garda investigation in 1998 when his partner's daughter reported she had been raped by the man.
