An armed Palestinian was killed overnight by soldiers guarding the Jewish settlement of Dugit in the northern Gaza Strip, an Israeli military spokesman said today.
A Palestinian security source confirmed Mr Ezzedine
El-Chamali (20) from the nearby Jabalya refugee camp had been killed in the incident.
The Israeli army said in a statement that a unit guarding the settlement had spotted the man armed with a Kalashnikov rifle approaching a fence and that he threw several grenades before he was gunned down.
