Jerusalem - Israel has decided to ban imports of the anti-impotence pill, Viagra, after six users of the drug died in the United States, the health ministry said yesterday. "We don't know what caused the death of these people but following this news we have decided to ban all use of this medicine until we get additional information on its ingredients and side effects," the ministry deputy director general, Mr Shuki Shemer, said.

The US Food and Drug Administration announced on Friday that six Americans had died after taking Viagra.

In Manila, the health department announced Viagra would not go on sale in the Philippines until it had been proven safe.
