A 28-year-old Irishman has died after a drowning accident in Australia.
The incident happened yesterday at Scarborough Beach, a popular bathing and surfing beach just 20 minutes from the city of Perth in Western Australia. It is understood there was a large swell in the water at the time of the accident and a number of people are believed to have got into difficulty while swimming in the area.
The man was taken from the water and brought to hospital where he later died.
