Cypriot police yesterday confirmed the death of an elderly Irishman who drowned after falling from his boat half a mile off the shore of Xira village close to the holiday resort of Ayia Napa.
Thomas Terence Roberts (72) was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital yesterday.
The other man in the boat who had also fallen into the water, David Parnell (54), escaped unharmed. Both men were living in Cyprus.
