DENIS STAUNTON has been appointed Deputy Editor. He previously worked as Foreign Editor. He has also worked as Washington Correspondent; European Correspondent based in Brussels and Berlin Correspondent. He will serve on the board of The Irish Times Limited.

Born in Dublin and raised in Cork, he reported from Berlin for the Observerand the Guardianbefore joining The Irish Timesin 1997.

PAUL O'NEILL has been appointed Editorial Director. He will have responsibility for editorial operations and content development. He will direct future integration of The Irish Timesnewspaper and irishtimes.com, as well as differentiation of content across print and digital output.

He previously worked as Deputy Editor. He also held the posts of Business Editor; Deputy News Editor and Crime Correspondent. He first joined The Irish Timesin 1989 as a reporter in the London office. He is from Waterford city.
