The 1999 Irish Scientist Yearbook is now available and offers an in-depth look at research under way in Ireland.
Sponsored by the Forfas STI Awareness programme and published by Samton Ltd, it has 212 pages and 460 illustrations, 430 of them in colour.
The yearbook carries descriptions of hundreds of research projects from the institutes and universities and includes articles from State, semi-state and private institutions.
The A4-sized yearbook is written in jargon-free language and is geared to the interested non-scientist.
A free copy has been presented to every second-level school North and South of the Border and is available to individuals for just £6 for the soft-back or £12 for the hardback version.
