Ireland's Derval O'Rourke has missed out on a place in tomorrow's women's 60m hurdles final at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham.
The 22-year-old Cork athlete finished fifth in her semi-final this afternoon in a time of 8.22 seconds. Sweden's Susanna Kallur won the race in 7.78 seconds.
American Gail Devers, racing in the second semi-final, qualified for the final in a new championship record time of 7.80 seconds.
Earlier, O'Rourke was disqualified from her morning heat - after finishing fifth - when officials said her trail leg crossed an adjoining hurdle.
But following an appeal, she was deemed to have gained no advantage from the infringement and was reinstated. She progressed to the semis as one of four fastest losers.
Maria Lynch failed to qualify from the women's 1,500m heats. She finished last of nine in the opening trial with a time of 4:21.44. Iryna Lishchynska of the Ukraine won the heat, clocking a time of 4:10.28.
