Ms Lindsey Waller (17) of Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, was rushed to hospital after suffering a serious head injury in the accident on Sandhead beach, near Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway.
Doctors at the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow tried to save her but she died this morning, Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said. The accident happened while the teenager was on holiday in Scotland with her family.
Another 17-year-old girl who was riding pillion on the quad bike was unhurt in the crash, which happened at 4.15 p.m. yesterday.
Ms Waller, of Heston Drive, Carrickfergus, was initially taken by ambulance to the Garrick Hospital in Stranraer before being transferred to Glasgow.
