An Irish company has signed a $30 million distribution agreement in New Zealand.

An Irish company has signed a $30 million distribution agreement in New Zealand.

Surface Power, which develops and manufactures solar power products, will distribute its range of solar hot water, heating and cooling systems under a five-year deal.

The company said today it would establish a national distribution and training academy in Tauranga, New Zealand, resulting in the creation of 12 new jobs over the next year.

Founder John Quinn said: “New Zealand Solar Distribution have approached the market in a professional way seeking out the best technologies, backed up with training options and support. We look forward to building a relationship that will help drive growth and jobs for both companies in 2009 and beyond.”

Mr Quinn said the company had already achieved product approval in over 25 companies and expected to add the US, Canada and Australia in the coming months. It also expects to conclude further agreements in New Zealand this year.

Established in Mayo in 2003, Surface Power signed a €20 million deal less than a month ago to have its solar hot water panel product distributed throughout the Republic of Ireland.
