The number of people travelling through Ireland's three main airports has increased by 17 per cent for the first six months of the year, Aer Rianta has announced. Aer Rianta says the increased traffic is due to incentive schemes offered to encourage development of new routes, competitive air fares and strong economic growth.

Dublin Airport saw a 17 per cent increase in its volume of traffic, Shannon had an 18 per cent increase in traffic and Cork saw its traffic rise by 19 per cent.
