Yugoslavia's Jelena Dokic was forced to pull out of the Paris WTA tournament today just two hours before she was to take on top seed Venus Williams in the final.
A spokesman for the WTA Tour said that Dokic, the number four seed, had been forced to withdraw because she was suffering from a leg injury.
The 18-year-old, who was hoping to win her fourth career title, had picked up the injury during her three-set semi-final win against Monica Seles on Saturday.
The problem was then aggravated when Dokic returned to the courts later on Saturday to partner Magdalena Maleeva in the doubles semi-final against Nathalie Dechy and Meilen Tu, which she played with her leg bandaged.
