Kanrori - The death toll from a bomb that ripped through a crowded Indian train near Kashmir rose to 14 yesterday, as railway officials issued a nationwide alert against similar attacks. More than 100 others were injured in the explosion at this small town late on Thursday.

The blast, in a second-class carriage packed with Indian soldiers and Hindu pilgrims, took place in the hill state of Himachal Pradesh.

Police said Muslim separatists, backed by Pakistan's intelligence agency, were responsible.
