London - The Indian author and broadcaster, Nirad Chaudhuri, died last Sunday of a stroke in the English city of Oxford. He was aged 101. Chaudhuri was among the subcontinent's most controversial and prolific writers - despite the fact he did not take up the pen until he was 50. Reviled at home for his vocal praise of British colonial rule, he completed his last work just two years before his death.
