The cause of the crash has not been officially ascertained.

Earlier, eight civilians and an unspecified number of soldiers were killed as Indian and Pakistani troops traded fire in disputed Kashmir.

Indian forces and Muslim separatists clashed in various parts of Indian-ruled Kashmir and nine people were killed, Indian police said.

Both sides accused each other of starting the firing across the Line of Control (LOC) dividing Kashmir, where officials said five civilians were killed on the Pakistani side and three on the Indian side of the Himalayan region.

Pakistani comment on the Indian report was not immediately available but officials in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir said Indian shelling killed five civilians and wounded several on their side of the divided territory.
