New Delhi - India said it had no immediate plans to send its Foreign Minister, Mr Jaswant Singh, to Pakistan, and reiterated that its neighbour must address concerns over cross-border terrorism in Kashmir.

"It's not imminent," a foreign ministry spokeswoman said, referring to Islamabad's invitation to Mr Singh to visit Pakistan. Pakistan's president, Mr Pervez Musharraf, has called the Indian Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee, in an effort to reduce tensions on the subcontinent.

A spokeswoman said Mr Singh had an invitation to visit Pakistan outstanding since a bilateral summit failed in July, but no dates had yet been finalised.
