A 62 year old school caretaker was convicted yesterday at Belfast Crown Court of indecently assaulting six young girls who visited him at a disused school in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, where he was employed.

William Brady, from Donegall Way, Carrickfergus, was cleared of two further charges of procuring abortions. Sentencing will take place on Friday at the defence wishes to obtain medical reports.

During the two week hearing, the jury heard that the girls - aged 11 to 15 years at the time of the offences between 1992 and 1994 - describe Brady's indecent assaults. Some of the younger girls gave evidence via closed circuit television.
