Humanist guide presented

THE Association of Irish Humanists (AIH) has presented the President, Mrs Robinson, with the first Irish guide to humanism and to non-religious child-naming, wedding and funeral ceremonies. The presentation was made at Aras an Uachtarain yesterday morning. The guide, by Dick Spicer and Ellen Sides, outlines four sample wedding and four sample funeral ceremonies, the last of these a funeral for an infant. It notes that the most recent census figures showed that the non-religious community is now larger than the Church of Ireland.
