Gerard Houllier's recovery from major surgery has been confirmed with the Frenchman being discharged from hospital.
It is less than three weeks since he was rushed into hospital after being taken ill at half-time during Liverpool's home match with Leeds on October 13th.
Houllier underwent major surgery that night at Liverpool NHS Trust's Cardiothoracic Centre at Broadgreen Hospital. Experts later confirmed that if he had not had immediate treatment he could have died.
It was confirmed that he was suffering from a condition know as Dissection of the Aorta, and he underwent an 11-hour operation.
Since Houllier's hospitalisation, his assistant Phil Thompson has been in charge of the team who have won four and drawn one match in Houllier's absence.
Liverpool have also progressed into the second phase of the Champions League, the draw of which is being held in Switzerland this morning (11 a.m. Irish time).
However, despite his rapid recovery, Houllier will not be attending Liverpool's home game with Manchester United on Sunday and will have several weeks of recuperation before returning to the Cardiothoracic Centre for further tests.
