A Killarney hotel which was inspected on a busy bank holiday Monday has been convicted of nine breaches of the EU food hygiene regulations.

The hotel, which had no previous convictions, has since implemented a range of recommendations and invested £300,000 in a new kitchen.

The 250-bedroom, three-star Gleneagle Hotel was inspected by the Southern Health Board last June 6th.

Among the convictions in Killarney District Court yesterday were failure to ensure that the layout, design, construction and size of the food premises allowed for adequate cleaning. Changing facilities for staff were also inadequate.
