Hibernian chairman Malcolm McPherson today announced he was standing down after becoming increasingly at odds his fellow directors.
The shock news comes just hours after last night CIS Insurance Cup second round victory over Alloa at Recreation Park.
McPherson`s decision also to resign as a director ends his three-year tenure as chairman at Easter Road.
He said: "There has been no big fall-out, but it is important at this time of challenge and change that the team acts and thinks as one. "Therefore I have decide that it is right for everyone that I withdraw.
I will continue to support the club in any way that I can."
McPherson, who tendered his resignation on Monday, will be succeeded as chairman by Ken Lewandowski, who wasted no time in paying tribute to his predecessor.
"Malcolm has put in tremendous service during his time as chairman and he has open invitation to the boardroom and we all look forward to seeing him on a very regular basis at Easter Road," said Lewandowski.
