Three victims of Hepatitis C contaminated blood treatments have been awarded sums totalling £285,000 by the Compensation Tribunal.

Two north Dublin women accepted lump sum settlements of £100,000 and £85,000.

A spokeswoman said the £85,000 award to a 44 year old mother of two included £30,000 for loss of earnings. In 1977, she had suffered from Hepatitis C but was now virus free. The woman who accepted £100,000 is a 29 year old mother of four and had suffered from fatigue and thyroid problems.

A 50 year old industrial worker from the mid west accepted a £100,000 provisional award.
