Why you can't sleep
IF you cannot fall asleep until dawn, turn out the lights earlier. Scientists at Harvard Medical School have discovered that people are actually much more sensitive to artificial light than was previously thought. This means that we can develop disturbances in our body clocks even in response to dim indoor lamps. Standard indoor lighting can significantly reduce the amount of the nocturnal secretion of melatonin - the hormone which triggers the sleep process and regulates body rhythms.
