Put aside five minutes to try some squats at lunchtime. Stand in front of a chair with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees as though you're sitting on the chair, keeping your weight on your heels. When your legs are parallel with the seat of the chair, slowly rise to your standing position.

If you need to go somewhere else in the building, take the stairs rather than the lift.

Each time your phone rings, stand up to take the phone call.

Take five minutes twice a day to walk outside, get some air and move your legs.

Try 'active sitting' by changing position in your chair every half an hour.

Do some simple leg exercises. Stand and hold onto a desk or bookshelf for support. Slowly lift one heel towards your bum, then lower. The knee of the supporting leg should be slightly bent during the exercise, not locked. Repeat 12 to 15 times on each side

If you have a meeting to go to, why not walk there if it is within reasonable distance rather than driving or taking the bus?
