- A practical workshop for parents of children with Down syndrome is running on Saturday from 10am-1pm in the Bright Stars therapy centre, Rathfarnham, Dublin. - Midwife Maura Reynolds holds a monthly once-off antenatal class (9.30am-4.30pm) for parents-to-be in the Beacon Hospital, Sandyford, Dublin. The class covers late pregnancy, labour and care of a new baby. It also includes a short talk by a consultant paediatrician. Cost €170. See parentprep.ie

- The Health Information and Quality Authority has published a catalogue of health information sources. The catalogue will increase awareness of sources of health information and how the data can be accessed. It is estimated that up to 30 per cent of the total health budget is spent on dealing with handling information.
Prof Jane Grimson, director of health information with the authority, said: “Health is information intensive, generating huge volumes of data every day. It is therefore imperative that it is managed in the most effective way possible in order to ensure a high quality, safe service.”
