ONE in every 12 people in the Republic suffers from the distressing symptoms of regular migraine attacks. Sufferers can be affected for any length of time from four hours to three days by symptoms such as severe or pulsating pain, partial loss of vision, vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, dizziness, sensitivity to light and/or sound and general weakness.
A new anti migraine drug, Imigran, has just been launched in this country after being used worldwide since 1990. The medicine has proven effective in successfully treating up to 80 per cent of migraine attacks from within as little as 30 minutes of application.
